How Tweet It Is (Meri’s Twitter Adventures)

When you’re as enamored of pop culture as I am, having close encounters with the people who make that pop culture is a super duper awesome fun-balls thing.  Not gonna lie, folks, I am a star struck goofball who loves to rub elbows with the rich and famous.  But that doesn’t really happen all that often.  Sure, there are events like Dragon*Con, Blood At The Beach (conventions in general), concerts, and comedy shows.  Scheduled things that give us losers the chance to gaze upon a celeb idol for a precious moment or two.  But what about when you’re just chilling on the couch in your stinky drawers and a cat on your lap?  Could you interact with them there?  Sure, that’s what the INTERNET is for!  Twitter especially.  It’s random, instant, and tons of fun.  I adore twitter.  The best thing about it, by far, is that I’ve made some fantastic friends, as the kids say, IRL.  But hell, who wants to hear about regular people?  Right?  This is about the famous folks!  Here’s a list of my favorite encounters so far:

Jimmy Fallon.  I’ve had a crush on this guy for ages, and once he got Late Night, it escalated to love.  I even went to NYC and attended a taping of the show.  So when I noticed his finger all jacked up one night, I had to know why.

Michael McKean.  When you inquire about Westerns with David St. Hubbins, it’s a good day.

Wil Wheaton.  The second time I’ve used my geeky tattoo to get attention.  This time from the Geek King!

BTW, the tattoo itself:

Ricky Gervais.  That time I told Rick about giving his show, Derek, love on our podcast.  A one word reply and a smiley face?  DAY MADE.

Terry O’Quinn.  John Locke, y’all.  He tweeted me and my pops.  Best LOST viewing hangout ever.

Dom Monaghan.  Speaking of LOST, I enjoyed this reply, which taken out of context…….  *insert Butt-head laugh*

Russell Crowe.  I felt bad about this one, because I love him and he responded to something I was giving him shit for.  Tip:  don’t be a troll.  Use your celeb encounter twittering for good.

Mark Ruffalo.  So yeah, The Hulk gave his home town a shout out.  NBD.

Adam Scott.  The most adorable person to recreate old tv shows’ opening credits in history said his favorite U2 song was….  Miracle Drug?

I’ve had a few other interactions, like several from our podcast guru in heaven, Chris Hardwick, QuestLove from The Roots, and the nation’s favorite weatherman, Al Roker.  So, get out there and tweet, listeners of Mouthy Broadcast!  Be nice, funny, & informative.  Don’t be creepy, don’t beg for follows or stupid retweets, and if you’re going to ask of your favorite celebs, be creative, like when I asked Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca, DUH) to name a goat after me.

I asked LeVar Burton if I could call him LeVar and he said yes 😀 I got a response/retweet from Amanda Palmer, love her. My favorite was a private message from David Copperfield. <3 Oooooh.
